Clara and Tokul on Rattlesnake Ledge
Clara and Tokul relax in the sun atop Rattlesnake Ledge.
There isn't really much of a story. After all, it's just Rattlesnake Ledge. We've been up there bundles of times and in spite of great weather (mid 40s and blue skies) the views couldn't rival those from the last time up in September.
We got a late start, meeting near the trailhead at about 10:45 so we wound up parking along the street rather than in the lot. Tons of people and dogs were heading up and coming down, but this wasn't about isolation or solitude. The trail was in great shape with just a touch of old snow and ice in the permanent shadows near the top.
We had lunch with everyone else on the rocks before heading down. A whopping four miles, but ones to celebrate since it was Isabella's first trip into the wild. I berated Dan for waiting nearly four months, but then he pointed out that it's been awfully cold (even if there's been no snow) so he had something of an excuse. My only response was that I was planning to get the new little one on the trail in under two weeks to beat Clara's debut.
Take that!
