Way back in the day I snowshoed to the Cooper Spur shelter on Mount Hood with Tokul and some friends. That was a snowshoe success story. We climbed to the shelter in snow and had a proper winter adventure.
This time we failed. That's not something I often say about an adventure because each trip is so much more than getting to a destination or setting a PR. But when you go out for a snowshoe trip and there's no snow... fail.
Don't get me wrong. We had fun. We hiked for a few miles up the trail with snowshoes strapped to our backs and found views of the mountain peaking out from behind the clouds.
But no snow. Boo!
Worse, as we were driving home around the south side we could see plenty of snow and clear skies. So add to the snowshoe fail a destination selection fail. That's two whole fails.
But again, we had fun. And we spent time together without fighting for Black Friday deals so maybe it was only half a fail or if we're being generous it was a win. But only barely.
