When's Clara going fishing?

No, this isn't Clara talking, it's Grandpa Jack. He's been desperate to go fishing with Clara for years (literally) so when the weather finally turned we scheduled a night without delay. (Unless you count the week he was fishing in Montana as a delay.)
I caught the Grandpa shuttle home after work and we started getting Grandpa's car ready for Clara. Since his permit is tied to the car we had to fit it with a car seat (oh for LATCH!), but otherwise didn't have too much trouble. He had a couple of inflatable rafts and Clara had her special jacket "to keep me safe" so we were good to go.
The lake isn't far from home, but far enough that it's not too badly hammered by others. Fish were rising when we got there and after pumping up both the raft and Grandpa's belly boat we were in the water. Clara was a little confused, but got the hang of it pretty quickly.
We caught three fish in the half hour we were on the lake and she even helped me find them by saying "way over there" and "over by Grandpa Jack." Just as she looked to be losing interest we called it a night and packed up. When I hauled out the raft she proclaimed it her boat. Since it matched her lifejacket maybe it really was hers... dunno.
We met Amy and Lilly for dinner. Over chips and salsa Clara told Amy all about the fish ("splash splash splash") and seemed keen on going again so maybe this is but the first step in a lifetime of fishing. Grandpa will be thrilled.
