Snoqualmie Falls

Cold, but clear, it was a day to start the fire as soon as Clara and I came downstairs. Amy slept in while Clara played quietly with Tokul. Amazingly, it was all going according to plan... until Clara saw Amy. For no apparent reason the very good girl became a true two year-old. We wrestled her into clothes and headed for Snoqualmie Falls just a few miles downstream.

We started at the top, like all the other schmoes, but then Clara and I headed down the trail while Amy jumped back in the car. The idea was for Clara to walk the half mile down the steep hill, but that lasted for all of about a hundred yards. Oh well. I carried her down to the Powerhouse where Amy had parked. She had some lame excuse about how it wasn't right for a pregnant chick to hike big hills, but whatever.

I had never been down to the base of the Falls before so it was a special treat for me. Tokul was a bit spooked walking by the Powerhouse, but did ok on the boardwalk. Unfortunately, the way from the boardwalk down to the rocks was too rough for me to take Clara down myself and Amy played the pregnancy card so we'll have to save that for some other time.

Since the car was down near the bottom already we had a lazy walk back with Clara walking Tokul. It probably took almost as long as if we had hiked back to the top, but we got to have the whole family together so it was the best hike in a while and probably the last hike we can do as just three humans and a dog!
