So you head out on a Sunday morning stroll. It's not a really hard hike and the weather's pretty lousy so the views won't be worth much. To make it Internet-worthy you need to be a little creative.
First, don't take any pictures of the easy parts of the trail. Granite Mountain divides into three parts. The first, to the split to Pratt Lake, is flat and well trod. I usually make good time on this section, but it's definitely not very impressive. The second section is steeper, but nothing crazy. No pics until you get to the final stretch through the meadows and only if they're deep in snow.
Second, take some shots that show off the clouds and mist. It's best if you can't see the line between the snow and the sky and can only just barely make out your subjects.
Third, are there any sections that can be taken out of context and made to look really dangerous? Perfect! Shoot those. Don't explain that they're actually pretty safe except from the camera's perspective.
Finally, if you can find some misery definitely capture that. Ice on a dog's fur or your buddy sheltering from the weather are both perfect. You can say you had Type 2 fun, but not that you actually enjoyed it.
Follow these suggestions and you'll have people convinced you are an epic adventurer. It's worked for me.
