Snoqualmie Falls before the big thaw

Frozen

Somehow, in all the excitement of the weekend, I had forgotten to go look at the beauty of the frozen waterfalls in the neighborhood. Now it was Monday afternoon and the weather was supposed to take a turn for the warmer with rain in the forecast. (Could it have precipitated while it was cold enough for snow? OH NO! Hmph.)

Clara was due at ballet, but the other two kids were at my mercy. Amy brought the good camera and tripod to the handoff and I informed poor Lilly and Henry we were making an unplanned detour to Snoqualmie Falls. (They tried to extort McDonalds, but I stayed strong and only agreed to let them eat candy for dinner. Don't get all twisted. It's probably healthier.)

Thankfully, the Falls are lit at night so we were able to bask in their beauty. A couple stood shivering while a minister read their vows, but once they were on their way to a lifetime of bliss (I sure hope Amy's reading this) it was quiet but for the roar of the river and the snapping of shutters.

Lilly and Henry each insisted they push the button a couple of times so the picture above might be one of theirs and not mine, but it's my camera so just like with dinner, I win.

The picture doesn't do it justice so all I can say is next time it's really cold you must go see it for yourself.
