Usually, when you think, "This is totally going to burn off," it's a guarantee you'll get soaked.
When you think, "Wow, I totally made it down without falling even once," you're bound to take a spill.
And when you think you're making good time you find you're barely beating two hours when you finally look at your watch.
But today was no ordinary day. Today was a day that broke all the rules.
It did burn off. Or at least we got above it.
I didn't crash and burn like usual.
And I was at 1:50. That's not great, but it was ok. And it was under two hours, which is my "Holy cow I'm WAY out of shape" time.
To cap the morning, we saw a brocken spectre and with a little 'shopping you can even see it in the photo.
The only downside is that too many people are climbing Mailbox. The trail is getting beaten to death and the new trail won't be ready nearly soon enough. We might need to start searching around for some other stupidly-steep way to start our Sundays. Stay tuned.
