Last year we had rain, rain, and more rain. And some snow.
This year we started with a low fog at the trailhead, but then a little bit of sun. It didn't last, but it never rained.
By this time of the year, the snow on the ground is hard enough we don't need snowshoes, but not frozen so no crampons, either. It's just a little mushy near the surface. Easy walking, especially with someone kicking steps. Especially when that someone remembers where they're going.
But if there was a lesson to be learned, it's not to make bad choices until the opportunity for retribution is past. Eric, I hope you've learned your lesson.
