Kids on a bridge

Even though Tokul's mostly retired from the trail now she still stands at the ready whenever I bust out the pack. So when she turned the big 11 (that's 77 in dog years according to Clara) we were bound to get out on the trail. Especially since Amy was out for a Sunday breakfast.

And since Josie and Scott had nephews and yet another dog on their hands they were happy to join us on Tokul's favorite, Twin Falls. Is it her favorite because it's close? Because she's done it a million times? Or perhaps because we named a pool after her? It's hard to say, but she certainly knows the way.

The goal was simply Tokul's Pool. With three dogs, five kids, and only one responsible adult (I'll leave it to you to figure out which of us that was) going beyond was a bit of a stretch. But when we arrived the kids wanted to go to Turtle Rock. Then Fishy Rock. Then the benches. Next think you know we're at the lower falls overlook and the bridge is just a few hundred feet beyond so that's where we wound up.

Everyone had fun whether they were hanging with their uncle, hiking with a new friend, or being a big girl who also had zip-off pants. Tokul seemed happiest of all and didn't look a day over 63.

Total distance was 3.4 miles and about 600 feet of gain.
