And we're off

It's just another Saturday in winter. Fine, yeah, whatever. I know it's not really winter. We've got another month. Tell that to the snow. Even at the lowly elevation of 3,000 feet it was dumping and we were there to bear witness.

And to snowshoe, eat snow, fall down, have lunch, sled, and generally frolic. The kids also had a good time.

We hardly made it any distance from the car before Lilly and Henry were ready to play. Clara could have marched on for quite a bit more so I think I might need to find time to get her out for something a little more adventurous without the young ones.

The "big" sledding hill has just enough snow on it to be open. As long as you stay away from the mud hole at the bottom (seriously) and dodge the few bushes still above the snowline (seriously) you're in great shape. KOMO was there shooting video and we watched the camera man nearly destroy what is probably a really expensive camera when he slid down the hill on a borrowed sled. The girls also danced with death, but that hardly dampened their spirits.

We switched over to the little kids' hill even though there was hardly any snow and made our own track. Henry did his first solo run and the entire next generation of Moosefish did a couple of slides all together.

So even though total distance was less than a quarter mile and elevation gain was perhaps 200 feet going up and down and up and down the sledding hill it was a big success. Now we just need to hope the snow doesn't turn back to rain and we're on our way to a great winter.
