After a few days hanging around the house doing the family thing it was time to get out. Unfortunately, the schedule didn't call for an epic adventure, but there was enough snow around Auntie Nicole and Uncle Boppi's place to snowshoe anyway.
We started putzing around in the cul-de-sac, but Clara decided she wanted to climb the hill behind unbuilt Lot 8. The snow was about a foot deep, but powdery to the point of billowing out around the her and Molly's snowshoes. (Lilly stayed inside as the result of some poor choices.) The girls (and Tokul and Bacchus) climbed through tumble weeds and sage brush to a ridge about 50 feet up.
Want to sled, girls?
YEAH! (Where's the sled?)
So down I went to get the sled. And then back up. (That's the second 50 foot climb.)
Gotta make sure it's safe so I ran the course through the brush alone. On the (third) way back up I "fixed" some of the obstacles.
Papa and Tokul stayed at the top while I took the girls down. Fun. So back up we climbed. (Climb number four.) Down with just Molly. Back up for the fifth time and down with Clara. They wanted to go again, but since they had literally crawled up after the group descent we called it quits and went inside.
Distance wasn't more than a quarter mile round (and round) trip, but the gain was an impressive 250 feet.
