Traffic sucks. No doubt about that. I drove back to Issaquah to collect the girls to take them back into town for a Mariners game with Grandpa Jack and Grandma Joan. By the time I got to the stadium the game was just about beginning and the giveaway was all given away. Big deal about the gift, though, huh? Probably something lame... but wait. Tonight was the night Amy, Clara, and Lilly were featured on the cover of the Mariners Memory Scorebook. And we missed it! Say it ain't so!
Turns out it was so. They gave out 7,500 of the books with a picture of the girls on the cover. (The picture was shot way back in June when we introduced Henry to baseball courtesy of Gregg's Suite Night.)
Thankfully, they only gave out about 7,400 of the books. Gregg saved at least 100 of them for us. The girls usually get "oh how cute" looks from others, but a couple seemed to recognize Lilly since her face is visible on the book. Famous!
The game started really well, but descended into a slow, but definitely uncontrolled collapse. We went up five to nothing in the first, but lost 6-10. While joking with someone in line while Lilly and I went to get food I suggested that we ought to leave right then. (It was about the second inning.) It couldn't get any better than the beating that drove their starting pitcher from the mound after only a single out. Turns out I was right.
We stuck it out until the sixth inning, but that was enough punishment for us. As we walked to the car we heard some cheering, but had we stayed we'd have felt the collective air let out of the team shortly after. Bummer.
