After a very wintery backpacking trip the week before I was expecting fall was over and done. But nope. One last trip before the temps dropped and snow changed everything.
This trip wasn't anything epic. It was designed to connect previous hikes on my map. Tink and I climbed up to the ridge and took a left. There was a couple of miles of trail that I'd tried to complete a couple of times previously, but never could quite get done.
We returned and passed the exit trail. I'd been to the lookout on the high point on the ridge, but never from the south. A couple more miles of new trail and then back to the exit.
As I descended to the car I started seeing a bunch of other people. Other than the bear print in the snow they were the first living things I'd seen. There were no birds or squirrels or anything else. Really weird.
Maybe everybody else thought winter was here to stay. Fingers crossed the snow will come soon.
