We returned from Iceland the day before. I couldn't sleep. I tried and failed. So I grabbed Tink and headed back to the mountains. Don't get me wrong; Iceland was amazing. But these mountains are home.
We headed up a familiar trail, but made a detour to try a new approach. All off-trail, we climbed talus and steep slopes covered in blueberries. There were some creative steps as we gained the ridge and then made our way to the summit.
Huge views all around reminded me of one reason why these are my favorite places.
We dropped back down to the lake in order to give Tink a chance to swim. From there, just a quick walk back to the trailhead.
It's good to be home.
