Thank goodness for snow

That's not Lilly!

After nearly a week in the blistering heat* of the south it should come as no surprise that I wasted no time in getting into some snow. Thanks goodness we didn't have to go far to find it.

The boy, the dog, and I headed up the highway to a familiar trailhead. Perhaps too familiar. It's where we were when I broke my ankle last fall. Don't worry. We weren't going to the summit this time. I planned to stay low and visit an easy-to-access lake.

Granted, easy-to-access around these parts still means miles of trail, creek crossings, and, in late April, feet of snow. It was perfect! The lake was still mostly frozen, but there was enough open water to indicate walking across would be a bad idea. I guess it couldn't be that perfect.

It was, however, a great re-entry into the PNW and a great way to wrap up April. Or was it?

📍On the lands of the Snoqualmie people.

* By "blistering heat" I mean it was in the low to mid-70s.
