(This is part of the TENNESSEE! Tour. When I finally get a little caught up on posts, you can read about how we got into the south at http://bit.ly/MoosefishDoesTennessee. (Clicking that before it's posted will get you an error.))
We started our last day of roadtripping bliss at the high point of Georgia. Like most high points, it's way out in the middle of nowhere and took a significant drive to get there. We rolled into the parking lot and found the place really didn't open for a couple of hours. No problem, except we didn't have a couple of hours. We still had several more stops so we needed it to be open NOW!
Instead of riding the shuttle to the summit, we hoofed it up the "very steep trail" that was a moderately inclined, paved path. Oh well.
The sky was almost completely devoid of clouds, but it was still chilly enough to wear gloves. (Not pants, mind you, but gloves.) The highest part of the tower at the top was closed, but that just meant nobody was higher than we were.
Pictures and back down to the car. We were headed west to another National Park site. This one would be interesting to say the least. Stay tuned.
