Who likes sand? Not me. I don't like sand, it's coarse, rough, irritating, and gets everywhere. Kinda a bummer if you're at the beach for a week, right? It's not that bad if you're on the Oregon coast becomes sometimes it's all rocks like Cape Meares.
Cape Meares is another of Oregon's state parks. There are two star attractions.
1) The lighthouse because it's a lighthouse, duh. Lighthouses are cool with their fancy fresnel lenses and everything. So yeah. A highlight.
2) The Octopus Tree. No, it's not a place you can pick octopi like apples (though that would be cool in a Lovecraftian way). It's a tree with no distinct trunk, but eight "arms" that reach toward the sky.
You can get to these sights with a minimum amount of walking, but that's not our (my) style. Instead, we started from outside the park and hiked a trail along the bluffs. Definitely the way to go.
Sadly, this was the last morning we'd be able to get out and explore like this. Fear not, though. There's one more little adventure from this trip and it's HUGE.
