With the weather warming (slightly) it's time to get back out in the wilds for some SCIENCE! We're entering our third year on the Adventure Scientists Wild and Scenic Rivers project so we decided to head way up one of our local rivers to sample.
The good part about this trip is the area is rarely visited. The trail is sketchy in parts, muddy throughout, and stays far enough from the river itself we had to go off-trail to get to the water. The bad part is pretty much all the good parts, but without the positive outlook.
The river was indeed wild and scenic and worthy of study. We took our readings and headed back. We actually saw a few other people making their way up the trail, but they were all within the first mile or two of the trailhead.
It's likely we'll be back to the same general area to sample again later in the year, but I'm not terribly confident we'll be able to find the exact same spot without tracing a GPS track.
