Closed roads don't mean nothing to us!

Well isn't this special?

You know I have favorite places and I love visiting those favorite places when either nobody else is there or in conditions I haven't previously experienced. I won't pretend this is a good idea, but it occasionally means we get to see things no one else does and that's pretty cool.

Of course, there are reasons we haven't been there before. Like having a half mile road walk along the freeway. Or having only a vague idea that we can climb an untrailed slope to find the road we need just to get to the trailhead we'd normally drive to. Or that we'd run out of steam before we got where we were going.

And in spite of all that, we had a good day. Yeah, the freeway was loud, but nobody ran us over. The slope was mostly untrailed, but that meant we could go wherever we wanted. And the trailhead was right where it was supposed to be.

Even though we didn't get to our actual destination, we took the time to get up close and personal with a waterfall we've only ever seen from afar and crossed a slope that's been home to bears in the past. Plus, there's time for us to try this at least once more before the road opens so maybe we'll pull it off after all!

📍On the lands of the Wenatchi people.
