Ain't fall great?
Just don't fall into the creek swollen with early snow melt.
Fall is an interesting season for adventuring in the PNW. We can have brilliant blue skies and cold temperatures perfect for visiting larches. Or we can get epic snow storms that give us hope for a white Christmas that never comes. Most often, we get some snow up high and rain down low.
The trails are wet and it's not cold enough to prevent a sweat, but when you get to the summit it's below freezing and your damp layers suddenly aren't your friends.
At least on this trip it started honestly snowing at the summit. Yeah, that meant it was raining as we descended, but for a few brief moments we could pretend it was winter as the big, fat flakes fell.
Now if it could just keep snowing, that'd be great. (Spoiler: It didn't keep snowing.)
