Don't walk across a snow field if you don't know what's under it.
Way back in July, such a long time ago, Tink and I headed to the rich pika fields at Snoqualmie Pass just up the hill from home. We found plenty. It's been a good year for pika.
The snow fields were getting thin so we stayed off, mostly. (I had to do some living snow SCIENCE!, too, of course.)
Spring had finally come... in July. Right on schedule.
