When you think of spring do you think of warm days full of sunshine and flowers? Me, too! But maybe less of the warmth and the sunshine. And more snow. But definitely flowers, right?
As I continue to inch myself toward recovery I'm able to tackle longer trails with more elevation gain. Just the sorts of trails finally opening up from a long winter of deep snow. (It was an epic one here in the PNW and it drives me mad that I missed it!)
This time it was a short walk to a relatively low lake. It's a great trail and really crowded when the weather's good so I went when the weather wasn't so good. It's clear most people turn around when they hit snow. There were only a few tracks, but easy enough to follow.
Flowers were everywhere. Lots of avalanche lilies up high, but my favorite is always the bunchberry down low. It's so modest, but so beautiful.
Tink wasn't encumbered by a leash on the way up since we were the first ones on the trail. She obliged me on the way down and good thing. We saw a solid 20 people, but the more the merrier on this kind of trail. Even better: No pain so I get to move on to the next stage!
