After the success of the previous adventure in the snow I felt emboldened to do it again. Might as well go to an easy destination with an easy exit if something wasn't feeling right. The closed ski area in the mountains above home was perfect.
Following the PCT led us across the open face. Actually, it was Tink that led us. She was totally in love with the snow and sprinted back and forth with her tongue flapping in the wind.
We climbed to the "summit" of the ski hill and then dropped down the steep, rotten snow back to the PCT. It was a good test of the stability of my hip and hurray! I passed!
Tink found the only lake anywhere near us and immediately dove in. Between the snow and the ice cold water she was in absolute heaven. Only the realization that we'd missed most of the snowy season soured the experience.
The best way to fix that problem is to find more snow. Good thing there's always more snow.
