(If you're thinking, Poop fairy?!?, check out the Poop Fairy Challenge announcement.)
Many of our trails are starting to melt out and that means more and more people (and pets) are getting onto the trails. THAT means more and more trash and poop bags are left beside the trail, almost always in the first half mile! In April participants in the Poop Fairy Challenge collected 262 PBEs. Blech. (PBE = Poop Bag Equivalent, roughly the size of a cup.)
The big winner was @suzy.delong who picked up 64 pounds of garbage along the Clear Fork Mohican River! Even at the conservative conversion rate of 0.5 pounds / PBE that's 128 PBEs! Suzy will receive a Deuter Dirtbag courtesy of Deuter USA. (All of the participants in April are entered in the drawing for the grand prize at the end of the summer.)
May will get warmer and more people will head outside. You can bet the sides of our trails will be a target rich environment. Grab a bag and get out there. And remember to tag @moosefish, @deuter_usa, and #poopfairychallenge to get your collections counted.
