It's mid August and it's hot like crazy. Days like these I'm not too sad to be backlogged on processing photos and writing because I can almost pretend I'm standing in the snow.
On this trip we started early to beat the sun and the crowds. That meant the snow was firm as we climbed up the Gully of Doom until we got to the flower-covered knob above the lake. After that, it was a mix of bare ground covered in flowers, bare rock, and melting tarns.
In short, it was lovely.
And of course, I neglected to bring the good camera. Sigh. "The best camera is the one you have with you." Yeah, yeah. I know. Still wish I had my good camera.
We had our traditional spring... er... summer glissade, had a dip in the electric blue waters of a really, really cold tarn, and saw lilies pushing through the snow. Pretty perfect. Even without my camera.
