In many parts of the northern hemisphere June marks the point in the year when temperatures go up, the sun shines more, and the days are at their longest. Not so in the Pacific Northwest.
Officially, summer started June 20, but lifelong Northwesterners know summer really starts July 5. While others are complaining about it getting hot, we're in the rain. There's still tons of snow in the mountains so it's a cold and wet adventure when we get out. It's kind of a blend between June and January. Junuary.
Not that we're smart enough to stay home.
I'd hoped to climb the pup's namesake peak, but alas, it was a fool's hope. Too much snow, too much rain, too little visibility. But remember, we're not smart enough to stay home so we went out anyway.
Totally worth it. And in a couple of weeks: SUMMER! (Maybe.)
