Fleeing rain isn't always successful in the PNW

Rain or shine

Wisdom tells us that when it's raining on the west side, we can find sun on the east side. Wisdom isn't always right. Needless to say, we didn't find sun, but we did delay the rain a bit. Plus: Snow.

We started from a nearly empty trailhead. The trail is steep, but not the steepest around. We got a few decent views in a couple of spots, but mostly views of the coming storm. There was no climbing above the clouds and by the time we got to the summit we were buffeted by winds and blown snow that made a mockery of my shorts.

By the time we got back to the trailhead there were cars lining the road for almost a mile. Most were going up other trails from the same trailhead, but we did encounter 30 people as we descended.

It appears others thought about running away from the rain, too. Bummer it didn't work for them either.
