Full disclosure: This trip was on June 6, a full two weeks before the official start of summer (and a month before the actual start of summer), but I don't think any of us were expecting it to actually snow on us.
By the time we got to the summit, we were already soaked from rain-laden brush in the valley so the addition of snow was somewhat a relief. At least it wasn't raining. And the sudden snow elicited some grins, too.
In addition to keeping us from getting too excited after the last couple ofblue-skydays, it reminded us to always bring gear to keep warm when you're waiting on the summit. Big puffies and Gore-Tex for the win.
Never fear. Soon it will be all-too-hot and I'll be dreaming of the snow. Until then... Juneuary.
