Shouldn't she be unhappy in the rain?

Do you hike in the rain? Not a mist, not a drizzle, but a genuine downpour. We do. Good thing, too. If we didn't hike in the rain we'd get out only half as often. Seriously. In 2017 it literally half of all the days. It rained for 186 days. It felt like most of those days were weekends, too. Such is the cost of living in the mountains.

So... into the rain we go. I'm glad my kids either love hiking so much they'll go out in a storm or I've raised them in such a way they don't know they should stay inside. Either way, waterproof gear for the win. (No, Treen doesn't get protection from the water, but she also chooses to go swimming in the oh-so-cold river so I don't think she cares so much.)

If you haven't been out in the rain, you really should. Check out how the plants look different and the animals change their behavior. Watch how the humans run away to shelters. Then be stoked on having the trail all to yourself and a few likeminded folks. It'll be great. Or at least wet.
