End of the blues
Serious concentration from a six year old? Only while demonstrating his form.
In the last year, Henry has progressed through white, yellow, yellow stripe, orange, orange stripe, blue, and blue stripe. Heck, he even had his birthday party at the dojo.
As he prepared for his green belt test it was clear there was more in store for the boy. You see, he's been in the "basic" program for the last year. Really getting a feel for Tae Kwon Do and trying to determine if he was serious about it. It turns out, he is. At least as serious as a six year old can be about anything. He could continue belt-by-belt, but to really continue making progress he'd need to make a commitment.
A three year commitment.
That's a lot of commitment for a six year old. Heck, that's a lot of commitment for someone far more advanced in age. I know a lot of "adults" that only commit to a job for two years.
However, it was clear he was ready to join the Black Belt Club. Aside from a bag full of weapons and a different uniform, it meant a more rigorous training regimen with a defined goal. Black belt in three years. When he enters middle school he'll be illegal to export because he'll be classified as a weapon.
Needless to say, he was excited when his name was announced. Hopefully, the rest will be history.
