Lipsy Lake and Otter Falls
April 23, 2006
Really? Nana and Papa want to go for a picnic? Sure, we I can find a short, flat hike. Oh... they want something a little more challenging, huh? How about a little trail that will henceforth be known as DEATH MARCH 2006?

Eagle Creek
April 14, 2006
Where to go, where to go? Tokul and I had a morning to hike near Portland on Good Friday. Snow would be hard to find unless we went all the way to Mt. Hood and everything else would be soaking wet given the endless rain forecast. Sounds like a perfect day for a waterfall hike, huh?

Commonwealth Basin at night
April 7, 2006
48F at 8:30pm at Snoqualmie Pass. That ought to be a pretty good indication that the snowshoe season is done. Of course, since a billion feet of snow had fallen at the Pass this year (making up for last year, naturally) there might be one more night...

March 25, 2006
Grandpa Jack got snowshoes and poles for Christmas for his cabin near Winthrop, but Winthrop is a long drive so we thought we'd give them a spin closer to home.

With steroids coursing through my veins I'm invincible! It's time to find out if these long-promised muscles will live up to their billing and get back on the trail. Seems like going back to the same destination as last time is a good plan, huh?

Portland
February 16 - 20, 2006
Portland in February is usually as dreary as Seattle, but we hit it almost perfectly. Blue skies and bright sunshine. Too bad it was so cold we could hardly take the girls outside.

Gold Creek Pond at night

Sunday night, a winter storm watch in effect, and a belly full of lasagne. Isn't there somewhere we can go that won't drive us into the ground?

What the heck is a tokul anyway?
Officially, she's Delphi's Moosefish Tokul, CGC. She's an AKC-registered yellow labrador retriever born March 26, 2000. (That makes her old). She joined the young moosefish household just after we moved to North Bend.
She's named after Tokul Creek, the last tributary to the Snoqualmie River below Snoqualmie Falls. "Tokul" means "very dark in color," but we didn't know that. Oh well.
