50 people at the Bouncy House (not its realy name) in Preston. Only about a third of them (the mommies) were responsible. The rest of us were running around with little regard for our own or anyone else's safety. Good times.
The party was your typical little kid birthday party. (Note I said "little kid" and not "toddler." Clara is a full-fledged little kid now. What happened to my baby?) Everybody shows up. Kids pair off to go play. The hosts get fussy. Pizza. Ice cream. Kids fall asleep on the way home.
Clara was more interested in playing with Lilly, Nana, or Papa than any of her friends. To be fair she didn't know some of the kids. In addition to Clara we were celebrating the fourth birthdays of Lex and Aura, too. Most of their friends overlap, but there are a few extras here and there.
Lilly was just on the young side for the equipment so she had a few issues with the slide and getting knocked over once or twice. For the most part, though, she had a blast dragging adults along with her through the obstacle course.
After pizza and ice cream we tried to take pictures of the three birthday kids together, but didn't have much luck. Getting the three of them to smile at he same time proved to be a greater challenge than any we had faced and in the end insurmountable.
On the way home Lilly came dang close to falling asleep, but we tickled, sang, and eventually gave Amy's phone to her and that worked. Presents rounded out the morning before naps. Clara's special party day ended with her writing thank you notes. What a big girl!
