Sunset at Safeco

Thanks goodness the baseball season has started at last. Happily, we can now count on three hours of entertainment almost every night of the week. It's family friendly and usually leads to Clara trying to hit things with a stick. AWESOME!

Opening day was a day game (what the...?) so we decided to go with the second game. Grandpa Jack brought the tickets and we brought the girls. After hot dogs outside Qwest Field (Clara said, "Go Seahawks!") we entered the temple and found that it was nearly empty. Bummer.

Nonetheless, we geared up with snow suits and blankets and settled into our seats. We were reminded that baseball is a summer pastime as a cold wind blew through and rattled our bones. Don't get us wrong. We'll still go any time we can, especially if the Mariners keep playing well.

Unfortunately, Lilly wasn't as interested in sitting quietly and watching so I walked her around. We watched the five-run second inning from the walkway overlooking center field. She'd cuddle up on my shoulder and then the crowd would roar and she'd bolt upright looking around.

We left just before the pitchers blew the 6-0 lead. They wound up winning, but just barely.

At 1-1 we're tied for the lead in the American Lead West and Johjima is on pace to hit 162 home runs. Who needs Balco?
