Saturday was Hailey's party at 321 Bounce in Bellevue. Picture a huge warehouse-type space filled with monsterous inflatable toys like a 20 foot slide and side-by-side obstacle courses. The only thing louder than the fans keeping everything blown up was the sound of joy streaming from the three year olds as they ran from one toy to the next.
The last time Clara got to try something like this was Austin's party a year ago at Pump It Up. She was almost two full years younger than everyone else so she really didn't get into it. This time there was no stopping her, especially once she paired up with Aura. Even the mommies got into the act, though they did get scolded once or twice (or more than that) by the authorities/teenagers in yellow 321 Bounce t-shirts.
Lilly hardly knew what to make of everything so I held her tight. She bounced on the edge of a couple of toys, but was generally too small to go in. My broken ankle spared me the humiliation of falling over repeatedly or getting stuck. WHEW! Dodged that one.
Now that you have 20 sweaty kids and their parents stick them into a tiny room with no circulating air and serve pizza. What could be better?
How about the illustrious Chuck E Cheese? That's where Corbin had his party on Sunday morning. Clara was in daycare with Corbin and Chloe when Amy worked the 2003/2004 school year and they remain tight even though Corbin's a year older.
It appears nothing has changed at Chuck's since I was a kid and visiting so I'll give you this opportunity to reminisce about your childhood as I did about mine. Needless to say there was pizza, video games, and skeeball! Yee ha for skeeball! Too bad Clara didn't have the strength to get the ball over the lip into the point area. Good thing Mommy was there to help.
Old Chuck himself even made an appearance. If you were making a list of the worst jobs for a high school kid being Chuck would have to rank right up there with cleaning the grease trap and delivering papers. Chuck was a happy fool though. He'd probably gorged on leftover pizza before coming out. Maybe it's not such a bad job after all.
Needless to say, Clara was completely wiped out after partying heartily. Hopefully, she'll sleep well this week for next weekend's adventure.
