Two weeks ago we started growing sugar crystals. Then we waited. And waited. A long, long time. Made longer by little minds desperate for learning. And the idea they could eat the crystals.
Finally, it was time, but we missed Science Sunday. Oh, well. There's always Science Monday. It turns out alliteration isn't a requirement after all.
In addition to the sugar crystals, which were sadly lacking in quality, I whipped up some alum and epsom salt crystals. They turned out great and were a heck of a lot quicker. Like overnight quick.
We poked and prodded and inspected with a magnifying glass, but it was really just a prelude for eating.
Turns out, though, sugar crystals, without flavor, taste terrible. Icky. Even Lilly, Little Miss Sweet Tooth, wouldn't have more than a single taste.
But at least we learned about Legos, uh... no, actually, that was the analogy that explained it. We learned about crystals and that was good.
And we got the jars off the window sill.
You're welcome, Amy.
