Twice before we've tried to grow crystals. Fail and fail. This time I think we've guaranteed success by making the kids do all the work.
They fashioned their own grow ops and did everything except the bits with boiling water. The only problem came when we said, "Ok, now we wait."
Wait. What? Wait?
Lilly was hardest hit.
Clara kind of understood that not everything is immediate.
Henry's attention span is short enough that once he saw something shiny in the next room he forgot all about the crystals.
But Lilly. Dear, sweet Lilly. She had gone through the whole process expecting a glorious crystal candy at the end. Instead, she got a couple of jars full of colored sugar water that she's not supposed to touch. And we put them on the kitchen window sill so she gets to see them all the time. She must think we're really mean.
Hopefully, (a) this will work this time and (b) we won't have to wait too long.
I don't know that Lilly could take it.
